Racing is a cornerstone of the Georgia Cycling program and Parkview MTB highly encourages all riders sign up to race and put their skills into practice. Races are mainly divided by grade level and gender (e.g. 7th grade boys race seperately than 7th grade girls). The number of laps required will differ based on middle school vs. high school riders.
Our philosophy at Parkview MTB is that when you race, you're competing against yourself only. Your coaches are here to celebrate your accomplishments and goals - whatever they may be. Your teammates will be there to cheer you on at the start and the finish line. We want all riders to cross the finish line with confidence and a sense of pride in what they achieved.
Race days are full of fun, energy, good food, and celebrating each rider. They can be early starts and we do recommend families considering heading to the race the night before if schedules allow (camping / hotel details will always be shared). The team tent will have space for both riders and their families to hang out before and after their races. There is hot breakfast and lunch prepared in the team tent as well as snacks to fuel a fun day. Riders and families are encouraged to cheer on other atheletes during their races (cowbells are great to bring!) and to serve as a cheer squad at the finish line.
There are great vendors, food trucks, and skills clinics to check out in-between races as well. It's alot of fun and we can't wait to see you at the team tent.
FANTASTIC! We need coaches and team parents to keep our season running smoothly. If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to parkviewmtb@gmail.com and we will get you connected with GA Cycling and start your training.
If you are interested in helping support Parkview MTB as a team parent, we would love your help. Volunteers are needed for race days, fundraiser events, and end of season banquet support. We also need assistance with events throughout the season to celebrate our riders.
